How To Play:
- The object of the game is to bankrupt all your opponents. To do so, you must be dedicated and make each decision with the aim of improving your chances and wiping out your opponents. Never let an opponent off the ropes. Luck plays a key role in the game and luck can turn against you if you do not bankrupt a player as quickly as you can.
- Each player starts with $1500. On an average circuit of the board, prior to houses appearing, a player will make about $170. By knowing approximately cash an opponent has, you can know how far he or she can bid in an auction, how much rent he or she can afford to pay, or how many buildings he or she can purchase without mortgaging.
- Remember, there are 32 houses and 12 hotels. Use this knowledge to create housing shortages when it is to your advantage.

The History of Monopoly:
Today, Monopoly is the best-selling board game in the world, sold in 80 countries and produced in 26 languages.
How did it all start? It was 1934, the height of the Depression, when Charles B. Darrow of Germantown, Pennsylvania, showed MONOPOLY to the executives at Parker Brothers. They rejected it due to "52 design errors"! But Mr. Darrow wasn't daunted. He was inspired to produce it on his own.
With help from a friend who was a printer, Mr. Darrow sold 5,000 handmade sets to a Philadelphia department store. People loved the game! But as demand grew, he couldn't keep up with the orders so he came back to talk to Parker Brothers again. The rest, as they say, is history!
In the first year of production (1935) the MONOPOLY game was the best-selling game in America. And over its 65-year history, an estimated 500 million people have played!
Fun Facts:
- The total amount of money in a standard game is $15,140.

- Parker Brothers rejected it when it was first presented to them in 1933, citing 52 fundamental playing flaws.
- During WWII, escape maps, compasses and files were inserted into the boards smuggled into POW camps inside Germany. Real money for escapees was also slipped into the money.
- Over 200 million sets have been sold worldwide.
